The Spirit of Wales distillery offers tours for you and your loved ones to be shown around the premises with an explanation of the origins of Spirit of Wales and how it got started and a walkthrough of the process of producing our Welsh gins, vodkas, and rums, completed with a relaxing bar experience to and enjoy and chat away.

When walking through the doors, we greet you with a lit-up bar table with a backlit logo front and center at the bar. Behind the bar are shelves of our spirits lit with red light, which really stands out, especially thanks to the steely painted walls and industrial design decor. There’s also a collection of historical pictures and art pieces throughout the walls of the Spirit of Wales Distillery, which gives you an idea of how Newport has developed over the years. As you enter the speakeasy-inspired bar area, you see a table that stretches along the wall where our beautiful copper stills live for the make-your-own gin experiences.
One of our distillery experts will welcome you with a drink and give you an introduction to our distillery and a bit about how we passionately rose from the ashes of the pandemic to make Welsh-inspired spirits in October 2020. We will cover our process of turning our warehouse into a Welsh distillery and introduce you to our sustainably sourced production equipment.
Explore and taste of premium Welsh flavour
Once completed in the bar and visitors’ area, we will lead you down a corridor into the distillery, where our passion for spirits and inspiration from the Welsh come together. We are a no-nonsense distillery, so our production area doesn’t look like the ads you see on TV (in fact, most distilleries don’t look like that), it is an area filled with containers and barrels and several large stills that we repurposed to create our contemporary Steeltown spirits, and our Dragon’s Breath curiosity spirits.
We will then show you our working spirits distillery, from our botanicals used in our recipes to how our stills and filtering systems work. At this point of the tour, we will give you some shot glass tasters of four spirits, from the existing range and any new Spirit of Wales products we are producing.
As you taste each of the samples, we guide you through specific details of the aromas and taste of each gin, vodka, or rum. Find out more about what inspired the recipe for each of our bespoke products, how we incorporate our range of botanicals used, and the unique filtering processes giving our spirits a classic Welsh character. You will also get to see some of our products being made to see how they look and smell before refining and bottling for you to enjoy.

After seeing how your gin, vodka, or rum starts out as an idea to end up as a product, we invite you to join us at our relaxing bar area, where we treat you to a drink or cocktail from our bar menu. As a participant of the tour, we will give you 10% off all drinks, experiences, or bottles purchased on the day.
