Velindre Cancer Centre

Martyn Williams has been a great supporter of Velindre Cancer Centre for a number of years. Many people are aware of Martyn’s qualities which are on display across the rugby fields of the world. His many qualities also make Martyn a wonderful ambassador for Velindre; he is highly committed, has a deep understanding of the affects of cancer, and is always prepared to help out in a variety of ways – donating memorabilia for auctions, supporting our events, and encouraging others to get involved in supporting Velindre.
2009 saw Martyn head up his first Martyn Williams Penyfan Walk as part of his 7 for Velindre campaign. Martyn climbed south Wales’ highest mountain, encouraging other Welsh internationals to do and help raise over £30,000 for Velindre Cancer Centre.
His support and willingness to help is hugely appreciated by everyone at Velindre.

Velindre Cancer Centre is the largest non-surgical cancer Hospital in Wales providing Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy and other specialised anti-cancer treatments for over half the people of Wales. We have been providing care and treatment to cancer patients and their families in Wales for over 50 years, and each year we provide support for over 100,000 people. Due to early detection and improved treatments the number of people in Wales living with cancer is increasing daily. It is estimated that by 2015 there will be a 30% increase in the most common forms of cancer. We are determined to raise the money necessary to enable us to meet these new challenges.
