NSPCC Child's Voice Appeal
The Child’s Voice Appeal aims to transform ChildLine and the NSPCC Helpline to ensure we are there for children. The hardest thing for a child to do is summon the courage to speak out about what’s happening to them. We want to be there for children whatever time of day or night need us, so in September 2008 we launched the Child’s Voice Appeal which aims to raise £50 million nationally to continue to run and grow our helpline services.

ChildLine
ChildLine is the NSPCC's free and confidential, 24-hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise, support and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Children and young people can call ChildLine about anything - no problem is too big or too small.

NSPCC Helpline
The NSPCC provides specialised support, advice, counselling and information for anyone who has concerns about a child at risk of abuse or who is being abused. If an adult has concerns about a child, they can contact trained child protection staff 24-hours a day, 365 days a year.

Why we need your help
Child abuse is very much a local issue and something that has an impact on all communities, therefore the need for funds is as critical as ever. Around 3,000 people throughout Wales called the NSPCC Helpline last year with concerns about a child. Our ChildLine bases in Swansea and Prestatyn counselled more than 28,000 children in need of help or advice throughout the same period. The most common issues children called ChildLine about were bullying, family relationship issues (including parental divorce or separation) and physical and sexual abuse.

NSPCC corporate fundraising manager for South Wales, Nerys Sales, told us: “We believe that every child who needs someone to turn to must have access to confidential help and support whenever they need it. Our vision is to provide every child with the help and advice they need 24 hours a day - by phone, online and by SMS text. The NSPCC is also committed to providing the opportunity for every adult who has concerns about a child to have someone to turn to 24 hours a day.”

With the help of people like you, ChildLine and the NSPCC Helpline are already there for thousands of children and young people, but many more need your help.
